In Gilberto Piccinini’s work the harmony of cold colors are only rarely heated up with fields of warm colors and the very few reds he uses are always very toned down as if they had lost their symbolic force. The sprays from an agitated sea which dissolves in traces of light illuminate the darkening landscapes in dream- like images which have an air of solitude. Waves break, telling of the continuous motion of life, leaving a light foam which soften the sense of violence and reveal a romantic subconscious: the artist’s most hidden feelings. The rocks, rounded by time are shown in gradated colors which tend to be heavy and which cling on as if they were searching for the lost roughness. The banks of clouds are tinged with storm and reveal the private anguish of the artist, who paints with serene, sure brush strokes; they reveal the lights and shadows of the rhythms of nature and of the life of those who follow their dream.
